About FRS

The Fire & Rescue Service (FRS) was establish in Fremantle in 1885. Since then the FRS has expanded to employ around 830 career fire fighters and have more than 2500 volunteer fire fighters operating from more than 100 locations.

Volunteer FRS fire fighters are on duty 24-hours a day, 365 days a year in locations where a permanent brigade has not been established. Busselton is one of these brigades.

  • Volunteer FRS fire fighters duties include:
  • Fire fighting of property and bush
  • Containing of hazardous and toxic material
  • Rescue of victims in motor vehicle accidents or chemical accidents.
  • Hydrant inspections.
  • Education and training.
  • Community safety activities.
